Is my loft convertible?

As a rule of thumb if you can stand up in your loft and still have some room above your head to the highest point about 7 foot, a conversion can be carried out.

What kind of conversion can I have?

Dormer or Velux

Dormer: creates extra space for the stairs or room. Gives additional space for bath or shower room.

Velux: For smaller conversions where there is already adequate headroom.

Do I need building regulations or planning?

Building Regulation approval is required in all conversions, but planning, which relates to the exterior of your home, in most cases does not.

What are the Building Regulations?

The Building Regulations set standards for the design and construction of buildings, primarily to ensure the safety and health for people in or around those buildings, but also for energy conservation and access to and about buildings.

Do I need to organise other trades like plumbers and electricians?

Archer Loft Conversions have regular plumbers and electricians who we have worked with time and time again because they are trusted, reliable and work to our high standards. So in essence no, however if you wish to source your own trades people then this is also possible.

How long does a conversion take?

This obviously depends on the type of conversion required and can take 4 or 5 weeks to  longer depending on the size of the conversion.

Will there be much disruption?

We are usually able to access the loft via the scaffolding on the outside of the property and build the conversion to a near finished stage. We realise that any building work is an intrusion into your home so we make as much effort as possible to make the transition as stress free as possible. During the times we do need access from your front/back door we make sure there are dust sheets throughout to minimise any disruption.

Can I view any lofts completed?

Viewings of our previous work can be arranged, so please contact us and we can make the necessary arrangements.

How much will it cost?

Each loft is individual and will be designed to your specific requirements. It is therefore impossible to say. A survey needs to be carried out to work out all the relevant factors.

What areas do you cover?
